How is the representation of age constructed in the clip?
Sound:
In the first clip of Stranger Things the sounds used in the background followed the tempo of the clip its self. Non diegetic sounds were used to build up suspense of for the audience it is done to for shadow the future of the loud and scary sounds and informs the audience that something is going to happen. It is then followed by a diegetic sound of the kids riding there bikes and the thunder outside this is also used to create tension and build suspense.
Mise en sene:
In the clip of Stranger Things it was set in 80's America with old american cars. houses, bikes, phones, kitchens and even to the old board games. Stranger Things was set like an old 80's horror with a very obvious film sequence of the future within the series with sound, editing and camera giving clues of whats about to happen next in the episodes. The children and adults were dressed in old 80's clothing as well.
Editing:
Editing is key in a series or any part of movie or clip as the editing is what is produced as the end result and is key as it needs to be done right, to get the right reaction from the audience and also involve at the end of episodes cliff hangers to entice the audience to want to watch more. In the clip from Stranger Things a Shot reverse shot was used to engage the reader into what the characters are saying and making out like they're there with them and engaged into the conversation it also gives a sense of continuous action within the series.
Camera:
The Camera men used a close shot when filming Stranger Things when they were playing the board game they did this as the make every character around the table playing to be a subject to show a bit of character and how they are as this clip from Stranger Things was at the start and this is a introduction to the characters and Allow the audience to understand them. They also use a long shot when the kids are on the bikes to show how close they are to each other riding round all on the same bikes and the close friendship they have by this long shot showing all of the space around them but yet there still together and very close friends, they do this for the future of the series and have to show that they are very close as friends. There is a few shoulder shots used in Stranger Things followed by an establishing shot to give the audience an understanding of the setting. A low angled shot was used in the first clip as this was to show the power of the parents over the kids as in the 80's it was a whole lot stricter within a generalised American family where as now kids are given a lot more freedom.
